Personal work

I have always been fascinated in creative work of art and alternative media. I thrive innovating in alternative projects in which I feel free to express points of view about what I see around. I always look forward to work in partnership with other inspired professionals to get involved on this kind of projects which stimulates my inspiration..

FAKIR

In 1995, I have first initialized this alternative project with Juan Bustos and pursued it with Javier Caballero to convert it to a fanzine. FAKIR ended up as an Art collective invited to participate into a significant number of conferences and Art exhibits, such as the ARCO hosted in Madrid in 2005, and the Triennale de Milano in 2003. It also captured the consideration of many alternative publishers in the United States and Europe in a postsocial media era. Each issue of FAKIR (eight in total) developed a theme which was later hand produced in a plethora of formats and techniques. The FAKIR project ended in 2006 when all of its members disbanded to work in their personal projects. It was an overwhelming experience. The other members were Omar Mijangos, Eric Morales, Luis Diaz, Guillermo Serrano and Eduardo Escobar

You are not here

‘’Usted no esta aqui’’(Your are not here), 1999, was a collection of cards designed to portrait the wealth of mexican pop’ culture beyond Tequila-Mariachi-Frida ‘’clichés’’. I invited 20 artists from 5 major mexican cities in to show how they live in their respective hometowns. They produced 24 images which printed in a set of cards that has been distributed in design stores and galleries.I also organized various exhibits throughout the country. In 2002, this project was published into two books for distribution in the United States to illustrate the contemporary mexican design.
